Dharmendrasinh Jadeja Ends Saurashtra Stint; Lalit Yadav Joins Odisha

After more than 13 years with Saurashtra, experienced left-arm spinner Dharmendrasinh Jadeja is ready for a fresh start in domestic cricket. The 36-year-old has received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) and is expected to move to Chhattisgarh for the upcoming season.

The decision comes after talks between the player, the SCA and the team management before the new domestic campaign. The discussions were mainly about what role Jadeja would have going forward.

Jadeja and Saurashtra Part Ways

With 100 first-class matches to his name, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja has been a key part of Saurashtra cricket for more than a decade. Talks between Jadeja, the SCA and the team management took place before the new season, after which the association agreed to issue his NOC.

Jadeja’s exit comes after discussions about his future in all three formats. The SCA and coaching staff wanted the experienced player to concentrate on red-ball cricket, but Jadeja was keen to continue playing limited-overs cricket too. His career record includes 100 first-class matches, along with 90 List A games and 73 T20 appearances.

Jadeja was part of Saurashtra’s Ranji Trophy-winning teams in 2019-20 and 2022-23 and has taken 423 wickets in first-class cricket. His 293 Ranji Trophy wickets since the 2017-18 season are more than any other bowler during that period. An SCA official wished the long-serving spinner well as he begins his new stint with Chhattisgarh.

Lalit Yadav and Ninad Rathva Move to Odisha

In other domestic moves, Vidarbha’s Lalit Yadav and Baroda’s Ninad Rathva will turn out for Odisha in the upcoming season. Yadav, a 30-year-old seamer, and Rathva, a 27-year-old all-rounder, have both received NOCs from their respective state associations, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) and Baroda Cricket Association (BCA). An Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) official confirmed that the pair have been signed as professional players for the new season.

Rajneesh Gurbani has also gone back to his home state Vidarbha after playing for Maharashtra last season, while Shashank Singh has switched from Chhattisgarh to Puducherry. The respective state associations have confirmed the moves.
