Hamstring Injury Rules Jemimah Rodrigues Out of The Hundred

India batter Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the ongoing Hundred after picking up a hamstring injury while playing for Southern Brave. The setback has also raised doubts over her availability for the upcoming Women’s T20 Asia Cup.

Southern Brave confirmed on August 8 that Rodrigues will not take any further part in the tournament, with Australian all-rounder Charli Knott coming in as her replacement for the remaining matches.

“We can confirm that due to an injury suffered by Jemimah Rodrigues, we’ve signed Charli Knott as our injury replacement for the remainder of The Hundred. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Jemi,” Southern Brave posted on X.

Rodrigues’ Absence a Big Blow for Southern Brave

Rodrigues joined Southern Brave as a direct signing for £60,000 (US$80,000 approx.) and has been among their most reliable batters this season. She has scored 143 runs in six innings, helping Brave stay joint top of the women’s competition on 20 points alongside Trent Rockets, who sit first because of their better net run rate. Before her injury, the 25-year-old had already picked up two Player-of-the-Match awards for Brave this season.

Her absence is a big setback for Brave as well as the tournament, given the impact she has had. Brave have two matches left and need to finish first to earn a direct place in the final. They still have games against Manchester Super Giants and Trent Rockets.

Injury Raises Concerns for India’s Asia Cup Campaign

India could also be affected if Rodrigues’ injury keeps her out for longer. The Women’s Asia Cup begins in the UAE later this month, although the seriousness of her hamstring problem is not known yet.

Her withdrawal from The Hundred could simply be a precaution to protect her fitness and avoid making the injury worse. India will begin their campaign against Thailand in Dubai on August 30, with the tournament now 22 days away.

Charli Knott Joins Southern Brave

Southern Brave have brought in Australia’s Charli Knott as an injury replacement for Rodrigues. Charli Knott is no stranger to the franchise, having previously represented Southern Brave during the 2024 edition of the tournament.

The young Australian arrives at the Utilita Bowl after a spectacular English summer with The Blaze. Knott was instrumental in their recent Vitality Blast title victory, finishing the competition as the leading wicket-taker with 27 dismissals while also scoring 404 runs.
