ICC Reveals Women’s Player of the Month Nominees for July 2026

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the three nominees for the Women’s Player of the Month award for July 2026. West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews, Sri Lanka batter Harshitha Samarawickrama and England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt have been shortlisted for their strong performances in international cricket, according to the ICC website.

Hayley Matthews made 265 runs and picked up seven wickets in three ODIs, while Harshitha Samarawickrama scored 173 runs during Sri Lanka’s 2-1 ODI series win over Pakistan. Nat Sciver-Brunt was instrumental in England’s run to the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup final, finishing the tournament with 133 runs.

Hayley Matthews (West Indies)

Hayley Matthews produced an excellent run across all three July ODIs against Ireland, hitting two centuries, including her best ODI score of 159 not out in the opening match. She made an impact in both departments in the first ODI, taking 3/52 before guiding the chase with her unbeaten 159.

In the second ODI, Matthews scored 100 and claimed 2/34, followed by another 2/37 in the third game. Across the series, she made 265 runs at an average of 132.50 and a strike rate of 117.25. She also took seven wickets at an average of 17.57.

Harshitha Samarawickrama (Sri Lanka)

Harshitha Samarawickrama played a key part in Sri Lanka’s 2-1 ODI series victory against Pakistan, finishing with 173 runs at an average of 173 and a strike rate of 77.23. After making only two runs in the first game, she bounced back with 100 from 119 balls in the second ODI.

She remained unbeaten on 71 in the final match as Sri Lanka successfully chased 187 to seal the series. Her performances throughout the three games also saw her named Player of the Series.

Nat Sciver-Brunt (England)

Nat Sciver-Brunt earned her place among the nominees after being a major contributor with the bat during England’s knockout matches at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on home soil, despite picking up a calf injury during the tournament.

The experienced all-rounder was named Player of the Match in the semi-final against South Africa after scoring a vital 75 when England were reduced to 23/3 within the opening four overs.

She followed that with a team-best 58 from 53 deliveries in the final against Australia at Lord’s. Sciver-Brunt also put together a 133-run fourth-wicket stand with Heather Knight, but England ultimately fell short of winning the T20 World Cup in front of their home supporters.
