ICC T20I Batting Rankings 2026: Top 10 Best Batters in the World

The ICC T20I batting rankings change after every series and the 2026 list has seen more changes than ever before. Ishan Kishan has dethroned his teammate Abhishek Sharma from the top spot in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings, a position Abhishek had held for almost a year. There are three Indians in the top ten. England also has three. Here’s how the list currently looks.

Top 10 ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings

1. Ishan Kishan (India)

Kishan’s rise to the top was fuelled by a brilliant T20 World Cup campaign in which he scored 317 runs at a strike rate of over 190, including a brilliant performance against Pakistan in Colombo where he was awarded the Player of the Match award.

He joins Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek in a remarkable list of Indian batsmen to hold the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman returned to the Indian setup after a brilliant domestic season and has not looked back since. With 892 rating points, he is at the top of the world.

2. Abhishek Sharma (India)

Abhishek remained at the top of the rankings for almost 12 months, but Kishan could not take his place. The left-handed opener has been India’s most consistent white-ball batsman at the top of the order in every series.

His aggressive play at the top, his ability to absorb pressure while chasing difficult runs, has made him a worthy candidate for India’s opening spot in T20 cricket. With 858 points, he is just seven ratings behind Kishan and a big series away from taking the top spot.

3. Sahibzada Farhan (Pakistan)

Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan is third on the list with 848 points. The right-handed opener has been the brightest batting light in a Pakistan T20I setup that has struggled for consistency over the past two years.

Farhan made his name in franchise cricket before translating that form at the international level and his rise to the top three shows how impressive he has been when given a stable role in Pakistan’s top order.

4. Phil Salt (England)

Phil Salt has been England’s most reliable T20I opener and his rating of 799 reflects consistent performance across many series. His aggression in the Powerplay and clean hitting from the off side have made him one of the most difficult openers to bowl to in the format at present.

Salt’s 70 off 44 balls in the Trent Bridge T20I against India in July 2026 was one of the defining performances of the England series and his ranking has remained strong throughout the series.

5. Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka)

Pathum Nissanka is Sri Lanka’s top-ranked T20I batsman and his team’s only representative in the global top five. His ability to patiently build up an innings at the top before bowling quickly in the death overs makes him an unusual profile for T20 cricket at this level.

Sri Lanka played some excellent cricket during the 2026 T20 World Cup and Nissanka was at the centre of everything that involved working with the bat.

6. Jos Buttler (England)

Buttler has slipped to sixth place in the current list, but his rating of 748 still places him comfortably in the world’s best group. India’s new vice-captain Tilak Verma is ranked sixth in the world.

Buttler’s explosive batting in the Powerplay and his ability to close out run chases make him England’s most dangerous match-winner in this format, no matter where he ranks in any given week.

7. Harry Brook (England)

Harry Brook’s rise in the T20I rankings reflects his rise as England’s all-format leader. He is ranked seventh in the world with 734 rating points and the gap between him and sixth place is so small that a strong series could take him even higher. His form against India in both the T20I and Test series in 2026 has been the best continuous international batting stretch of his career.

8. Tilak Varma (India)

India’s new vice-captain Tilak Verma remains at sixth place with 747 rating points. His rating in the data provided places him at eighth place and his steady rise shows how quickly he has established himself in the middle order in the Indian T20I setup.

10. Dewald Brevis (South Africa)

Bruise enters the top ten as South Africa’s highest-ranked T20I batsman with 702 rating points. The young right-arm bowler made his name in franchise cricket before breaking into the South African international setup. His T20I record over the last eighteen months has been strong enough to earn him a place in the world’s top ten.
