England Women

England women are entering this huge knockout clash in excellent form, having won all five of their group-stage matches. In their last game on 27 June, they comfortably defeated New Zealand women while chasing 164 with nine wickets in hand and 16 balls to spare. This convincing result has cemented their place at the top of the standings ahead of the knockout stage.

Danny Wyatt has been in fine form with the bat, scoring 282 runs at a superb strike rate of 153.26, including an unbeaten 105*. Nat Sciver-Brunt has added an attacking touch to the middle order, scoring 94 runs at a strike rate of 159.32. Sophia Dunkley has also made key contributions in the top order, adding 120 runs at an impressive strike rate of 139.53.

In bowling, left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone has been in fine form, taking eight consecutive wickets while maintaining an excellent economy rate of 5.90. Freya Kemp has added extra pace and taken six wickets, including best figures of 4/22. Off-spinner Charlie Dean has also played a vital role, taking seven wickets and keeping the opposition batsmen under pressure.

South Africa Women

South Africa women’s team will enter this crucial match full of confidence after four consecutive wins after their first defeat against Australia. Their most recent victory was against Bangladesh women’s team on June 28, when they chased down 118 with four balls to spare and won by four wickets. The result once again shows their ability to stay calm at the close end.

Tazmin Britts has been their leading run-scorer, scoring 174 runs at a strike rate of 134.88, including an unbeaten 114*. Experienced all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has made a big impact by scoring 119 runs at a strike rate of 148.75. Henri Dirksen has also scored runs by scoring 138 runs at a strike rate of 135.29.

Pitch Report: The Oval

The pitch at Kennington Oval offers a good balance between bat and ball in women’s T20Is, with the average first innings score in the first four matches played at the venue being 171. Teams batting first have scored at least 163 runs each time, although none have managed to cross 190, suggesting that a well-paced innings has been more successful than all-out aggressive cricket.

Batsmen have generally scored freely after settling in, while bowlers who mix up their pace during the middle overs have found success. A first innings score of around 170 to 175 should still be a competitive score.

Toss Prediction

In knockout matches, the captain often chooses to bat first because the pressure from the scoreboard can be significant when chasing. For this reason, the team that wins the toss is expected to choose to bat first and make the most of the good batting conditions early in the match.

ENG-W vs RSA-W 2nd Semi-Final: Match prediction

Along with Australia, England women’s team is also performing well in this tournament. Danny Wyatt is in excellent form, while the bowling unit is consistently taking wickets in the key stages. South Africa women’s team has match-winners in the form of Marijn Kapp and Tazmin Britts, both of whom are capable of turning the game around quickly.

However, England women’s team has been very difficult to beat at home. Danny Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt are leading the batting and the bowling attack has been performing well throughout the tournament, so England look in a better position. Their strong record against South Africa and home advantage make them favourites to win this competition.
