WTC 2025–27 Schedule

The championship will begin on 17 June 2025 in Galle, where Sri Lanka will host Bangladesh. Subcontinental conditions, spin-friendly pitches and smart strategy will make for an exciting start to this two-year tour.

Main series: England vs India (June–August 2025)

India will begin their campaign with a thrilling five-Test tour of England, playing at prestigious venues such as Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford and The Oval.

Shubman Gill will take over as Test captain and Rishabh Pant will be the vice-captain – a new era will begin after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. If India win this series, they can strongly enhance their chances in the WTC.

Home Assignments: West Indies and South Africa (October-December 2025)

India will then play two important home series:

  • West Indies (2 Tests) – October 2025
  • South Africa (2 Tests) – November-December 2025, in Kolkata and Guwahati
  • These matches give India a good opportunity to pick up points early and test their team’s strength.
  • Climate Series: Border-Gavaskar Trophy vs Australia (January-February 2027)

The league stage concludes with a big five-Test home series against Australia. This famous encounter from January to February 2027 could decide who reaches the WTC final. Fans can expect intense and exciting matches on India’s spin-friendly pitches.
