Hindi is the most common mother tongue among Indian cricketers. Players like Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami have Hindi as their mother tongue.
Virat Kohli is a Punjabi and speaks both Punjabi and Hindi. Shubman Gill’s mother tongue is Punjabi. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur also speaks Punjabi. Former Indian players Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh are also native Punjabi speakers.
Ishan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav speak mainly Bhojpuri. They can speak Hindi very easily, but Bhojpuri is their mother tongue.
