The game was full of record-breaking moments. Here are some of the most interesting ones:
Tim David (RCB) – 70 runs in 25 balls (3 fours, 8 sixes, SR: 280.00)
Tim David is the man of the match and no one argues with him. When RCB are doing well, he comes on the field and makes everything ten times bigger. His 106-metre six is the talk of the night. In a post-match conversation, he says that he doesn’t change his game even if he bats at 4 or 5 – he just backs up his preparation and goes out with confidence. He also credits his captain Rajat Patidar and the support staff for helping him settle into the team.
Rajat Patidar (RCB captain) is very happy after the win. He says that the team is playing amazing cricket at the moment. He praises Phil Salt and Virat Kohli for their strong start and gives a lot of credit to Tim David for finishing the innings in such a powerful manner. He also talks about the bowling, saying that Jacob Duffy’s opening swing set the perfect swing, and the death bowling with yorkers from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Abhinandan Singh was outstanding.
Tim David (Player of the Match) says that it feels great for the team to win the match. He talks about how Rajat Patidar was batting brilliantly at the other end and he was even seeing a six from the non-striker’s end! He also jokes that the boys are practicing big hitting in the nets and one of those shots came in the real match tonight.
RCB won this match in three clear phases.
Step 1 – Strong start: Phil Salt and Virat Kohli started the batting cautiously but confidently. They don’t throw their wickets away. They give RCB a base to build on.
Step 2 – The Surge: Devdutt Padikkal and Rajat Patidar increase the run rate. Both of them play smart cricket – they hit bad balls for boundaries and keep turning the strike.
Step 3 – Tim David destroys everything: The final over is completely Tim David’s. He hits sixes from every corner of the field. 30 runs on the over is simply unreal. CSK has no answer.
On the bowling side, Jacob Duffy’s early swing is the big difference. He removes both CSK openers cheaply and puts pressure on the entire chase from the very first ball. After that, Bhuvneshwar Kumar brings his experience and keeps picking wickets at the right time. Suyash Sharma bowls four excellent overs and gives away just 21 runs.
