SA Tour of Namibia 2026: Duan Jansen Ready to Write His Own Chapter in South African Cricket

The 26-year-old all-rounder has earned his maiden Proteas call-up for South Africa’s white-ball tour of Namibia, giving him an opportunity to make his international debut during a T20I tri-series involving Namibia and Zimbabwe. The tour will then continue with a three-match ODI series against Namibia. For Duan, this is more than just another selection. His form also extended beyond South Africa. During his stint with Gloucestershire, Jansen finished as the county’s leading wicket-taker in the 2026 T20 Blast. He collected 16 wickets. That consistency across formats is exactly what South Africa are looking for as they attempt to build greater depth in their white-ball squads.

More Than Marco Jansen’s Twin

The obvious storyline surrounding Duan is his relationship with Marco, who has already established himself as a major figure in the Proteas setup. Marco made his international debut several years ago and has gone on to become a regular across formats. Head coach Shukri Conrad has been particularly impressed with Duan’s all-round capabilities. South Africa are actively trying to strengthen their pool of quality all-rounders, and Conrad believes Jansen’s performances across formats make him an important addition.

The Proteas have selected one squad for both the T20I tri-series and the subsequent ODI series, allowing emerging players to gain experience while maintaining continuity. Duan therefore has multiple opportunities to demonstrate that his domestic success can translate to international cricket.

The T20I tri-series begins on August 28, with South Africa facing Namibia in Windhoek. The competition also includes Zimbabwe, before the Proteas return to face Namibia in three ODIs from September 9 to 13. The tour comes with several senior South African players rested, but that should not diminish the significance of the opportunity. For players such as Duan, these are precisely the assignments where careers can change direction.

His task is simple: perform, contribute and show that he belongs. Marco Jansen may already have written several chapters in the Proteas story.
