Sunil Narine Goes Big Against Mujeeb with Back-to-Back Sixes in CPL 2026

Sunil Narine rolled back the years with a stunning all-round display. Trinbago Knight Riders returned to winning ways in the Caribbean Premier League 2026. The veteran all-rounder produced a blistering 55 off 31 balls, including six sixes, to help TKR chase down Barbados Tridents’ modest 128-run target with ease.

One of the standout moments of Narine’s innings came against Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, when the left-hander smashed back-to-back sixes in the sixth over.

Narine Turns the Pressure on Mujeeb

With TKR already in control of the chase, Narine took the attack to Mujeeb. After collecting a boundary from the first ball he faced in the over, Narine launched consecutive deliveries into the stands. The first six, off the fifth ball, was struck with glorious timing towards deep mid-wicket. Narine then followed it up immediately, sending the next delivery over the same region for another maximum.

The sequence turned Mujeeb’s over into a costly one and highlighted Narine’s ability to dismantle even experienced spinners when he finds his rhythm. Interestingly, Mujeeb had already been targeted earlier in the innings. Colin Munro opened the chase by hitting him for two fours and a six in the first over. This provided TKR a great start.

Narine and Munro Set Up a Comfortable Chase

The Knight Riders were ruthless during the powerplay. Narine and Munro combined for a rapid opening partnership, with TKR reaching 60 without losing a wicket after six overs. Munro eventually fell for 37, but by then the damage had been done. Narine continued to attack and brought up his half-century before eventually departing for 55.

His innings contained one four and six sixes, while the opening stand laid the foundation for a seven-wicket victory.

Narine Makes an Impact With the Ball Too

Narine’s contribution was not limited to his batting. Earlier in the match, he played a major role in restricting the Tridents to 127/9. Bowling four overs, the mystery spinner finished with impressive figures of 2/14. Kieron Pollard also claimed two wickets. TKR’s spin-heavy attack kept Barbados under pressure throughout the innings. The Tridents struggled to build momentum. They managed only 31 runs in the powerplay before finishing on 127/9. Their late hitting provided some resistance, but the total was never likely to trouble a confident TKR batting unit.

TKR End Three-Match Losing Streak

The victory was particularly important for Trinbago Knight Riders, who had entered the contest after three consecutive defeats. Instead, they produced a complete performance. Their bowlers restricted Barbados to a below-par total before Narine and Munro made the chase look straightforward. TKR eventually reached 128/3 in just 14.5 overs. This led to them winning by seven wickets.

For Narine, however, the night belonged to more than just the result. His six-hitting against Mujeeb, followed by a match-winning half-century and a two-wicket spell, underlined why he remains one of T20 cricket’s most dangerous all-rounders. At 38, Narine continues to prove that experience has not taken away his ability to change a game in a matter of deliveries.
