USA Cricketer Akhilesh Reddy Gets Eight-Year Ban for Match-Fixing

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has handed USA cricketer Bodugum Akhilesh Reddy an eight-year ban from all forms of cricket after an Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of multiple breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. The punishment relates to corruption offences during the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2025, where the ICC acted as the designated anti-corruption authority on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board.

The 26-year-old represented the United States in four T20Is after making his international debut in 2025. His suspension is backdated to 21 November 2025, the date on which he was provisionally suspended.

 Why Was Akhilesh Reddy Banned? 

Reddy was found guilty of three serious offences under the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, according to the ICC Tribunal:

• Attempting to fix or improperly influence aspects of matches during the Abu Dhabi T10 2025.

• Attempt to influence another participant to engage in corrupt conduct.

• Inhibiting the ICC’s anti-corruption investigation by deleting relevant data and messages from his mobile phone.

The ICC stated that these breaches severely undermined the integrity of the game. This led to one of the toughest sanctions charged in recent years.

 Ban Effective Until 2033 

Reddy’s eight-year suspension is backdated to November 21, 2025. This means he will remain ineligible to participate in any form of cricket until November 2033. This would be unless there is any successful appeal or reduction under ICC regulations.

Reddy was born in India before later becoming eligible to represent the United States. He earned his USA debut in April 2025 and played four T20Is for the national side. He also featured for Aspin Stallions in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, where the corruption offences took place. Although he appeared in only two matches during the tournament, the investigation concluded that he had attempted to manipulate elements of games and later interfered with the inquiry.
