1. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) – 482 dismissals

Kumar Sangakkara tops the list with 482 dismissals in 353 wicketkeeping innings between 2000 and 2015. The Sri Lankan great took 383 catches and 99 stumpings, making him the most complete wicketkeeper in ODI cricket.

He is known for his exceptional response. Sangakkara also topped the list as one of the best batsmen of his era. This made him one of the greatest all-round contributors to cricket.

2. Adam Gilchrist (Australia) – 472 dismissals

Australia’s Adam Gilchrist is second with 472 dismissals in just 281 innings. His figures include 417 catches and 55 stumpings. His dismissal rate of 1.679 per innings is still the highest among the best wicketkeepers.

Gilchrist revolutionised the role of wicketkeeper-batsman. He played a key role in Australia’s dominance in the late 1990s and 2000s.

3. MS Dhoni (India) – 444 dismissals

One of the greatest finishers in cricket history. MS Dhoni also ranks among the best wicketkeepers in the game. In 345 ODI innings, he took 444 dismissals. Of these, 321 were catches and the remaining 123 were stumpings – the most by any wicketkeeper in ODI history.

Dhoni’s quick hands made him a nightmare for batsmen trying to leave the crease.

4. Mark Boucher (South Africa) – 424 dismissals

South Africa’s Mark Boucher is fourth with 424 dismissals in 290 innings. He has taken 402 catches and 22 stumpings. Boucher was known for his safe hand and ability to perform under pressure. This made him one of the best wicketkeepers in South Africa.

5. Mushfiqur Rahim (Bangladesh) – 297 dismissals

Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh is the highest-ranked active Asian wicketkeeper on this list, having taken 297 dismissals in 258 ODI innings. His record includes 241 catches and 56 stumpings. Rahim is a reliable performer with both bat and gloves.

6. Moeen Khan (Pakistan) – 287 dismissals

Pakistan legend Moeen Khan ended his ODI career with 287 outings. This included 214 catches and 73 stumpings in 209 innings. Moeen was an integral member of Pakistan’s ODI setup (in the 1990s and early 2000s).

7. Jos Buttler (England) – 271 outings

England’s Jos Buttler is in the top seven with 271 outings in 188 wicketkeeping innings. His record includes 232 catches and 39 stumpings. He is primarily known for his excellent batting. However, Buttler has consistently delivered quality performances behind the stumps.
