Why India Refuse The Asia Cup 2024!

One of the unique moments of the 2025 Asia Cup was the trophy presentation controversy. Despite defeating Pakistan in the final, the Indian team did not collect the trophy on the podium.

What Happened?

  • The trophy was to be given by Mohsin Naqvi, who is both the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
  • Acting on instructions from the BCCI, the Indian team refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi.
  • India requested that another official to do it by their request was denied. They were ready to accept it from Emirates Cricket Board Vice-Chairman Khalid Al Zarooni to present the trophy.
  • As a result, the Indian team stayed off the podium, and ACC staff eventually removed the trophy from the ground.
  • Despite the controversy, the Indian team celebrated their win with a mock trophy pose, showing their spirit and unity.
  • The BCCI called the incident unsportsmanlike and planned to file a formal protest to have the trophy and medals sent to the Indian team.

This incident showed the conflicts between India-Pakistan cricketing relations.

Asia Cup 2025 was a landmark event in cricket history. But nevertheless, the real joy has been found in the test of Asia’s fraud, the game has been linked to cricket with national pride. And we talk about that despite any person or police intervention. Because after all, the legacy of the rising star, the best in cricket and the player who made it to the name here is a platform.
