Brevis made his T20 cricket debut for South Africa Under-19 on 8 October 2021. A month later, the selectors selected him for the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup squad. During the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, he dominated the bowling attack with outstanding consistency. He scored two centuries and three half-centuries, amassing a total of 506 runs in the tournament. His fearless batting style earned him the nickname “Baby AB” in South Africa, as fans compared his game to AB de Villiers.
After a stellar performance in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, Bruins entered the IPL 2022 mega auction. The Mumbai Indians franchise, showing strong faith in his talent, bought him for Rs 3 crore.
