The MLC (Major League Cricket) 2026 season started with Texas Super Kings taking on Seattle Orcas. The two teams met at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 19, and the match ended up being all about veteran South Africa batter Faf du Plessis.
Seattle Orcas batted first, and their opening pair was aggressive from the start. Tim Seifert scored a century, scoring 104 runs off 66 balls, while Shayan Jahangir scored 78 runs off 47 balls, which led the Orcas to a score of 220 runs.
Chasing a big target, Texas Super Kings needed something special, and captain Faf du Plessis delivered just that. The 41-year-old South African showed that age is no barrier as he scored his fourth MLC century.
He completed his century in just 45 balls and remained unbeaten on 113 off 52 balls. His innings helped the Super Kings chase down the target in 18.3 overs as they started the new season with six wickets.

After the match, Faf du Plessis spoke about his innings and shared his thoughts on the Dallas pitch. He said that he always enjoys batting on this pitch and added that he would be happy if the entire tournament was played there.
“It’s a great wicket, I always enjoy batting here. I wish the entire tournament was here. There was pressure on the ball, they scored big and hit two sixes at the back-end. But we started the game during the batting PP. They batted well, but you can see it was a good wicket, the ball came nicely and I’m proud of the way the boys came back,” said du Plessis during the post-match presentation ceremony.
With a win over Seattle Orcas, the Texas Super Kings will now face the San Francisco Unicorns. The two teams will face each other in the fourth match of the tournament in Dallas on June 20.
