The Indian men’s Under-19 cricket team will tour Sri Lanka this July where they will play a bilateral series of three ODIs and two four-day matches. The series will provide valuable experience to the next generation of cricketers from both the countries.
The tour will consist of a three-match ODI series, followed by a two-match four-day series between Sri Lanka Under-19 and India Under-19.
The ODIs are scheduled to be played at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota on July 4, 6 and 9.
The focus will then shift to red-ball cricket. The opening four-day match will begin on July 13 at the Gayle International Cricket Stadium, while the second game will begin on July 20 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
India enter the series as defending champions after winning a record sixth ICC Under-19 World Cup earlier this year.
With a schedule of three ODIs and two four-day matches, the tour will provide a strong challenge for India’s new-look Under-19 team against a Sri Lankan team who will be confident of making the most of home conditions, especially in the heat. For Sri Lanka, the series offers a good opportunity to measure themselves against one of the top youth teams in world cricket.
