Bowling style

Ravichandran Ashwin is renowned as one of the greatest off-spin bowlers in the history of cricket. He bowls a lot of balls and gives the ball the right flight, so it spins more and sinks suddenly in front of the batsman. In addition to his natural off-spin, he also bowls arm balls and carrom balls. Carrom balls are preferred in the shorter formats, mainly in T20Is. In the 2013 IPL, he also bowled leg-spin and googly. He says he learnt the carrom ball from the ‘Soduku ball’ technique used by players in street tennis-ball cricket in Chennai. According to Ashwin, he does not bowl the second ball because it requires bending the wrist, which he finds difficult.
