Match Overview
One of the most exciting matches of IPL 2026 was witnessed in Jaipur on 25th April. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 228 runs in 20 overs. This is a big score. But Sunrisers Hyderabad chased it down with 9 balls to spare and won by 5 wickets.
Both the teams played fearless cricket. The ground was full of energy. More than 460 runs were scored in both the innings. The fans returned home having seen something truly special.
This is SRH’s fourth consecutive win. They are currently in a great mood in this tournament.
Rajasthan Royals win the toss and elect to bat. Things start slowly when Yashasvi Jaiswal is dismissed for just 10 runs off 8 balls. But 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is at the crease, and he has no interest in slowing down.
Suryavanshi attacks the SRH bowlers on the field. He completes his half-century in just 15 balls. The crowd stands and cheers. He then completes 100 runs in just 36 balls – his second IPL century. This is the fastest century by a teenager in T20 history. He scored 103 runs off 37 balls, hitting 5 fours and 12 sixes. His strike rate is 278.38. That is an extraordinary number.
Dhruv Jurel gave him excellent support at the other end. Jurel scored 51 runs off 35 balls and the two put on a 112-run stand for the second wicket off just 62 balls. This stand completely takes the match away from SRH – or so it seems at the time.
After Jurel’s departure, Suryavanshi continues to attack relentlessly. He is eventually dismissed after trying to reverse scoop Shakib Hussain. Then Donovan Ferreira comes in and scores a quick 33 runs off 16 balls to take Rajasthan to 220-plus. Pat Cummins is SRH’s best bowler with 1 wicket for 27 runs in 4 overs – an economy of 6.75, which looks great compared to everyone else on this pitch.

Sunrisers Hyderabad need 229 runs to win. Many teams collapse under such pressure. SRH are unstable. They attack.
Travis Head gets out early for 6 runs in 5 balls, caught behind by Jofra Archer. What happens next is a long-awaited debate among fans.
Kishan and Abhishek Sharma bat together and they completely dismantle Rajasthan’s bowling attack. Kishan completes his fifty in just 24 balls. He scored 74 runs in 31 balls at a strike rate of 238.70 with 11 fours and 3 sixes. Abhishek Sharma scored 57 runs in 29 balls with 11 fours and 1 six. Together they put on a 132-run partnership for the second wicket in just 55 balls.
That partnership settles everything. The required run rate goes from almost impossible to very manageable. Once both fall, Rajasthan will hope to make a comeback. But Henrik Klaasen scored 29 runs off 24 balls and Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 36 runs off just 18 balls to reach the target with 9 balls to spare in 18.3 overs. Jofra Archer is the most successful bowler among Rajasthan bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 34 runs.

Ishan Kishan (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Ishan Kishan is the clear choice for the Player of the Match. He comes in early after Travis Head is out and immediately starts playing big shots. He scored 74 runs in 31 balls with the help of 11 fours and 3 sixes to enhance Rajasthan’s victory. Together with Abhishek Sharma, he forms a match-winning partnership. When SRH needs someone to chase, Kishan does it brilliantly.
After 15 overs, RR are 184/3 and look capable of reaching 250 or more. But SRH bowl really well in the last five overs. They give away just 44 runs in that phase. Pat Cummins, Ishan Malinga and Praful Hinge bowled strongly and hit their yorkers. Rajasthan were 228. A score of 240 or 245 could have made all the difference.
This is the biggest moment of the match. Both Shimron Hetmyer and Ravindra Jadeja dropped catches off Abhishek Sharma. Sharma is on 30 when Jadeja takes a catch at one. A quality batsman like Sharma doesn’t give you a third chance. He scores 57 runs off 29 balls and puts on 132 runs with Kishan. That drop cost Rajasthan the match.
When both the batsmen score 132 runs in 55 balls in the run chase, everything changes. The required rate drops immediately. Rajasthan’s bowlers start looking tired and uncertain. After Kishan and Abhishek take Hyderabad under control, there is no way back for the home team.
Pat Cummins (Winning Captain, SRH): Cummins says he is happy to be back playing cricket after a long time and feels the preparations are going well. He jokes that with such high-scoring matches, everyone needs to start working on their batting! He remains calm halfway through as he feels SRH can chase a total of 228 runs with their batting lineup. He praises the young bowlers who have performed well during his absence.
Riyan Parag (Losing Captain, RR): Parag is honest in his assessment. He says his team is performing well in terms of skill but dropping catches is costing them a lot. He admits that against quality players like Abhishek and Kishan, you cannot afford to miss opportunities. He feels Rajasthan leaves 10-15 runs on the table in batting. He hopes the team will bounce back in the next game after regrouping.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi — 103 runs off 37 balls This is the fastest IPL century ever scored by a teenager. Suryavanshi is just 15 years old and plays like a seasoned player. His 12 sixes in an innings are extraordinary for such a young player. Even if Rajasthan lose the match, Suryavanshi’s innings is one for the ages.
SRH chase the fourth-highest total in IPL history Chasing 229 runs is not easy on any ground. SRH makes it comfortable. This is also their sixth consecutive win over Rajasthan Royals — an impressive head-to-head record.
Ishan Kishan scores 50 runs off just 24 balls In a chase this big, the opener needs to set the platform. Kishan does exactly that and does it at a blistering pace.
