Hitting a six on the first ball is a great power move to show your confidence. It really takes a lot of technique and skill to hit a six on the first ball without hitting it.

In India’s T20 history, only three players have achieved this amazing feat, and made their name on the first ball itself. Here are three Indian cricketers who started their T20I careers by hitting a six on the first ball.

Indian Cricketers to Hit First-Ball Six on T20I Debut

BATTER AGAINST OPPOSITION BOWLER VENUE DATE
Suryakumar Yadav England Jofra Archer Ahmedabad, India March 18, 2021
Ramandeep Singh South Africa Andile Simelane Centurion, South Africa November 13, 2024
Prince Yadav Ireland Harry Tector Belfast, Northern Ireland June 28, 2026

Suryakumar Yadav

On 18 March 2021, Suryakumar Yadav became the first Indian and only the third player in the world to start his T20I career with a six. The landmark moment came in the fourth T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad when he hit a six on the boundary off the first ball of Jofra Archer.

India promoted Suryakumar to number three after opener Rohit Sharma was dismissed early. Rohit had earlier started the innings by hitting a six off the first ball of Adil Rashid, but Archer dismissed him. The England fast bowler then welcomed Suryakumar with a short delivery, but the Mumbai batsman made an immediate impact by hitting a six.

Suryakumar later scored 57 runs off 31 balls and was dismissed after a controversial catch by David Malan. India eventually won the match by eight runs and Suryakumar was awarded the Player of the Match award.

He made his international debut in the second T20I of the same series in Ahmedabad but did not get a chance to bat in that game as India cruised to victory. However, in the fourth match, he was sent in at number three and made the most of the opportunity. After years of consistent performances in IPL and domestic cricket, he made his mark on the international stage by scoring a brilliant half-century.

Ramandeep Singh

Ramandeep Singh was the second player to join this prestigious list. On November 13, 2024, in his T20I debut match against South Africa, Ramandeep hit a six off the first ball of Andile Simelane in the 18th over.

With this shot, he became the second Indian after Suryakumar Yadav to achieve the feat. Suryakumar became the first Indian to do so against Jofra Archer in Ahmedabad in 2021.

Ramandeep got out after Rinku Singh was dismissed and immediately sent Simelane straight to the long-range fence. He ended his debut innings with 15 runs off just six balls. The 23-year-old’s cameo came to an unfortunate end in the final over when he was run out while trying to take an extra run.

Prince Yadav

Prince Yadav made his debut for India in the second T20I against Ireland on June 28, 2026, and impressed with figures of 3/22 in four overs. The Delhi pacer earned his first call-up after a strong performance with Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2026 season and also got a chance to bat during the chase.

Coming in at number 11, Prince remained unbeaten on six runs, but under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, India lost the match by one run.

The final ball of India’s innings was also the first ball Prince faced in T20I cricket, and he hit six runs and entered an exclusive club. When he was dismissed by Harry Tector, Prince became only the third Indian after Suryakumar Yadav and Ramandeep Singh to hit a six on the first ball of his T20I career.

Despite Prince enjoying a memorable all-round debut, India suffered another defeat against Ireland, once again losing by one run.
