India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has made a major change in his international career by choosing Bengaluru as his new training base. According to reports, he has rented a house near the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) and plans to use it as his regular training base whenever he is not playing competitive cricket.

Pandya’s injuries have severely hampered his progress in recent matches, raising doubts about his long-term fitness and future career. By choosing the Centre of Excellence as his regular training base, Pandya aims to keep himself in the best possible condition.

Bengaluru Becomes Pandya’s New Training Base

India’s centrally contracted players mainly use the multi-sport facility for injury recovery, fitness evaluations and national camps. The BCCI also holds youth camps there, while making the centre available for other sports as well. Pandya is now expected to make the COE his regular training base for the rest of his playing career.

The move comes after Pandya found it difficult to manage his training routine while commuting daily from his home in Lower Parel, Mumbai. Being close to the COE, he will be able to make full use of its medical, fitness and cricket training facilities throughout the year.

“Hardik has already shifted to Bengaluru permanently. He has rented a property outside the city which is close to the COE. He will become the first Indian cricketer to make the COE his permanent training base for the rest of his career,” a BCCI source said.

Originally from Baroda, Pandya has spent most of his professional career in Mumbai. He is also expected to continue training with his personal physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach, following programs designed by COE staff.

Recovery Efforts and Comeback Plans

The change comes as Pandya is recovering from a quadriceps injury that ruled him out of India’s ongoing white-ball tour of Ireland and England. Over the past few months, he has been working at the COE as part of his rehabilitation and is gradually improving his fitness.

The source also said that Pandya sees the move as part of his long-term plan to extend his international career, with the all-rounder hoping to play for India in white-ball cricket for the next five to six years. It was also claimed that he pays for the expenses himself whenever he attends optional skill sessions, including net practice, organised by the COE.

After the England series, India will travel to Zimbabwe in July for a three-match T20I series, and Pandya will aim to make a comeback during that tour. But with Bengaluru now his new permanent training base, Pandya is really hoping that the move will help him stay fit and extend his international career.
