New Zealand Cricket announced its 16-man squad for the five-match ODI series against the West Indies on July 1. Jacob Duffy has retained his place in the squad, while Matthew Fisher has received his first ODI call-up. Fisher made his Test debut against Zimbabwe last year and then earned his first T20I cap against Bangladesh in April.
Many regular players are unavailable as New Zealand begin preparations for next year’s ODI World Cup in South Africa. Fast bowlers Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Will O’Rourke have been rested after the Test series against Zimbabwe, while Blair Tickner is unavailable as he recovers from ankle surgery.
Mitchell Santner will continue as captain, with Tom Latham returning behind the stumps. The spin attack includes Jadon Lennox and Dean Foxcroft.
Jaden Lennox has secured a second overseas tour after impressing strongly during his maiden international series against India earlier this year. Michael Bracewell and Mark Chapman also add plenty of international experience to the squad, with around 250 matches played between them.
Devon Conway has been granted a leave of absence following the birth of his second child. Meanwhile, Rachin Ravindra, who is allowed to participate in Major League Cricket through a previous agreement with New Zealand Cricket, will not be travelling.
Ravindra’s participation in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026 was already approved by NZC and is not a new decision. Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Lockie Ferguson are also playing in MLC 2026. Glenn Phillips is another notable absentee after missing the third Test with a side strain, although no official reason has been given for his omission from the ODI squad.
