Wimbledon brought together three generations of Indian cricket stars in a special post on social media, with Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill at the championship. The official Wimbledon account shared a collage on X that showed two moments on Centre Court, more than a decade apart. One image showed Tendulkar and Kohli during their meeting in 2015, while the other showed Tendulkar sitting with Gill in 2026.

“Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill. Three generations of Indian cricket royalty in one image,” Wimbledon posted on X.

The post quickly caught the attention of both cricket and tennis fans, with many relishing the chance to see three of India’s biggest cricketing names in action at the sport’s most prestigious tournament.

Tendulkar Praises Wimbledon Semi-finals

Earlier, after watching the men’s singles semi-final at Centre Court, Tendulkar spoke about the high standard of tennis. He described Janik Sinner’s performance as a “masterclass”, while also praising the performances of Alexander Zverev and Britain’s Arthur Ashe.

Tendulkar was one of many prominent sporting figures in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. Zverev reached his maiden Wimbledon final by defeating Britain’s Arthur Ashe, before securing a place in the championship match with a convincing win over Serbian great Novak Djokovic.

Former West Indies captain Brian Lara was also in attendance, sharing the occasion after the two legendary batsmen spent years as fierce rivals and then played together in charity matches.

Cricket Stars and Sporting Icons at Centre Court

India’s Test captain Shubman Gill was also present at the semi-final, making for another memorable cricketing presence on Centre Court.

Other notable guests in the Royal Box included Liverpool and Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk, while Leeds United chairman Parag Marathe was also present on Centre Court.

Sharing his thoughts on X after the matches, Tendulkar reflected on an enjoyable day at the All England Club.

“Wimbledon, you never disappoint! What a privilege to watch two great semi-finals today. The fight and belief shown by Ferry was amazing to watch, while Zverev’s big serve played a vital role in a hard-fought victory,” Tendulkar wrote.

Tendulkar Hails Jannik Sinner

He also praised world No. 1 Janik Sinner after he defeated seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

“And then came Janik Sinner’s masterclass. The way he combined power and control in every shot was remarkable. Novak competed until the end, but Janik was at his best today,” he added.

Tendulkar ended his post by celebrating what makes the game special and said he was excited for the Wimbledon final.

“Days like these are why we love the game. Looking forward to more magic on Centre Court!” he concluded.

Gill Receives Royal Box Honour

India captain Shubman Gill has also been invited to watch the Wimbledon Championships from the Royal Box during the ongoing tour of England. At 26, he joins a select group of Indian cricket greats to receive the honour at SW19. The invitation comes ahead of Gill leading India in the upcoming three-match ODI series.

Wimbledon has once again shown why it is one of the most celebrated sporting stages in the world. From honouring three generations of Indian cricket to witnessing world-class tennis, Centre Court has delivered memorable moments on and off the court. With the final still to come, the Championships continues to bring together the best of the game from across the generations.
