
Indian fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep have received a major honour. The honour comes after they were appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) under the sports quota of the Bihar government. The appointments recognise their contribution to Indian cricket. It also reflects their achievements at the international level. The appointment letters were presented during a special function held at the Energy Auditorium in Patna. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary felicitated the players. Apart from government jobs, the Bihar government also announced scholarships and financial assistance for hundreds of players under its sports development schemes.
He made his mark in domestic cricket with Bengal. But both the cricketers were born in Bihar. Their performances eventually earned them a place in the Indian national team. The state government recognised their contribution to Indian cricket. Notably, as members of the gold medal-winning Indian men’s cricket team at the 2023 Asian Games, they were eligible for appointment under Bihar’s sports quota policy.
Mukesh Kumar has represented India across all three formats and has impressed with his disciplined pace bowling. Since his international debut, he has become a regular name in India’s pace-bowling discussions. Especially in white-ball cricket.
Akash Deep has become one of India’s promising Test fast bowlers. He is known for his pace and accuracy. He has delivered many exceptional performances. Particularly in red-ball cricket. He continues to strengthen India’s fast-bowling.

These appointments are expected to inspire aspiring sportspersons from Bihar. Speaking after receiving the honour, Mukesh Kumar said that such initiatives motivate the sportspersons to work harder and bring glory to the state and the country.
