The Pakistan cricket team will tour the West Indies for a two-match Test series against the hosts in July and August. In May 2026, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the schedule for the tour as part of its 2026 domestic international season.
Pakistan will enter the series under the leadership of Babar Azam, who will return as Test captain for the upcoming World Test assignments against the West Indies and England.
The West Indies will enter the Test series at home against Pakistan looking to continue the encouraging progress they have shown in red ball cricket over the past two years. Under the leadership of Roston Chase, the Caribbean team has gradually developed a more competitive unit that is capable of troubling strong opponents, especially in home conditions.

Babar’s return as captain after one of the most difficult periods in Pakistan’s Test cricket has brought an end to a difficult period for Shan Masood. Masood spent nearly three years as captain, but the team’s performance did not live up to expectations.
He ended his tenure with 12 losses in 16 Tests, a record that made it difficult for him to continue in the role. The biggest setbacks included consecutive series defeats against Bangladesh, whom Pakistan was generally expected to beat.
These disappointing results came after previous series defeats in Australia and South Africa. The recent defeat against Bangladesh seems to have convinced the selectors to make a change and hand back the Test captaincy to Babar. Pakistan have announced a 16-member squad for the West Indies series. Saud Shakeel has been added as the 17th member for the England tour, provided he passes a fitness test before the series.
The selectors have also included four uncapped players in both the teams. Left-arm spinner Ali Usman, right-arm batsman Muhammad Awais Zafar, right-arm fast bowler Ubaid Shah and wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Ghazi Ghori are all set to make their Test debuts.
Despite losing the captaincy, Shan Masood has maintained his place as a specialist batsman in both the teams. Pakistan are currently ninth in the World Test Championship standings. A strong performance is now needed to keep alive their hopes of reaching the final in the next WTC cycle.
The five Test matches between the West Indies and England offer Pakistan a chance to earn valuable World Test Championship points and improve their record in red-ball cricket. However, both tours are expected to provide a tough challenge.

The two-match series offers West Indies another important opportunity to improve their position in the World Test Championship and build momentum ahead of a busy international schedule. Playing at home has often brought out the best in their fast bowlers, and they will look to use the familiar conditions to their advantage.
West Indies will retain the core of the team that has been involved in recent Test assignments. Captain Roston Chase will lead a team that includes experienced names such as Shai Hope, Kemar Roach, Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seals, Shamar Joseph and Jomel Warrican.
The pace attack will likely be the team’s biggest strength and will be expected to lead it once again against Pakistan. However, the Caribbean batting unit will need to be more consistent if West Indies are to fully exploit their home advantage.
Players like Brendan King, Kev Hodge, Justin Greaves and Tegenaraine Chanderpaul will play a vital role in supporting the experienced members of the team and building a competitive total on the board. West Indies know that Pakistan are coming into the field with a new captain in Babar Azam and a team eager to revive their Test careers.
The series poses a significant challenge for both teams, with valuable World Test Championship points at stake. A strong performance here will not only boost the West Indies team’s confidence, but also cement their reputation as a tough team to beat in Caribbean conditions.
