South Africa top the list. They have scored more than 400 runs in ODI cricket eight times. South Africa participated in the biggest ODI ever played in 2006 when they chased down Australia’s 434 with one wicket and one ball to spare. Their highest ODI score is 439/2 against West Indies in 2015, in which AB de Villiers scored 149 runs off just 44 balls. They are the only team in ODI history to successfully chase a target of more than 400 runs.
India have equalled South Africa in scoring 400 or more runs in eight ODIs. The Men in Blue first crossed the milestone in 2010 when Sachin Tendulkar’s historic double century helped them post 401/3 against South Africa in Gwalior. India’s highest ODI score is 418/5 against West Indies in Indore in 2011. However, their most recent 400-plus score came during the 2025-26 period.
